Paula Hartmann is a German artist living in Canada who believes that creativity is a powerful force for healing, joy, and freedom. Her art is playful, heartfelt, and often moves—quite literally. She’s best known for her kinetic paper sculptures and colorful installations that invite wonder and delight.
Paula didn’t grow up thinking she’d be an artist. But after years of trying to fit into “normal” life, she followed a quiet inner pull and began creating again. What started as a personal journey has since grown into a meaningful and ever-evolving art practice—and now she helps others reconnect with their own creative spark, too.
She’s passionate about making art feel accessible, soulful, and fun. Whether she’s leading a retreat, hosting a workshop, or sharing her process online, Paula creates spaces where people feel safe to be themselves, try new things, and remember the joy of making something with their hands.
She currently lives in Toronto with her family and is always dreaming up new ways to blend beauty, community, and purpose.
“In my practice, I use paper, yarn, wire, and other materials that you can find in almost every household. The process of alchemizing simple materials into art fascinates me. There is also the constant urge to make the mundane appear sacred. My work is inspired by geometry and harmonic patterns, which, combined with colours, bring me into a state of joy and peace. It is my intention to share these feelings with as many people as possible and to uplift them.”
